Papaya Cottage is a 2-bedroom oceanfront home in West Bay at the northern tip of Cayman's western peninsula.  Architecturally identical to the other three cottages surrounding it, this cozy getaway can sleep 5 guests, 4 adults max.


Each floor plan opens to the sea with a pergola extending over the front porch creating an elevated lounging perch with ocean views. The bedroom suites sit on opposite wings of the cottage with direct access to the front porch.

  • Primary Suite - king bed, TV with Apple TV device, garden and ocean views, ensuite bath with modern fixtures, large jacuzzi tub, stand-alone rain shower.

  • Queen Suite - queen bed, garden and ocean views, ensuite bath with modern fixtures, European shower-tub combo.

  • A roll-away bed is available in each cottage.


Each cottage features a vaulted great room with ocean views encompassing the living, dining, and kitchen areas. The professionally-decorated interiors combine soothing hues, natural textures, and modern materials to evoke an updated island vibe. 


The kitchen is outfitted with stainless appliances including a side-by-side refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, electric range, and modern appliances. The kitchens are fully stocked with plates, glassware, flatware, and serving pieces. A family dining table sits adjacent to the kitchen with seating for all.


The living area is punctuated with a colorful accent wall mounted with a flat-screen TV. The ocean views also make quite a statement. Each cottage is also equipped with a full washer and dryer, personal safe, and wifi. 


We usually require a 3-night minimum, however, during the low season the owner may consider shorter stays. Please inquire prior to booking.


ABOUT SEA ORCHARD RETREAT


Sea Orchard Retreat is a boutique gated resort of oceanfront cottages on the quiet north coast of West Bay in beautiful Grand Cayman. Located just 10 minutes from Seven Mile Beach, guests can enjoy all the resorts, water sports, restaurants, and leisure activities the area has to offer. The shops of George Town & Camana Bay are also only a short drive away.**


The resort consists of four individual 2-bedroom cottages, a large resort pool with a heated spa and cabanas, a fitness center, and seaside hammocks under sea grape trees. 


With 400 feet of natural shoreline perched on a reef-protected marine park, guests can enjoy a vibrant snorkeling experience or kayaking adventure. While it has a sandy beach, that is raked periodically, it's not a barefoot swimming beach. However, guests are provided both snorkeling gear and complimentary water shoes for exploring. 


Famous Ristorante Pappagallo is within walking distance while the new Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa is less than 10 minutes away by cab. Barkers Beach, an oceanfront nature conservancy home to nesting turtles, birds, and other fauna is a short 5-minute walk away. Since there is no Uber or Lyft on island you might want to consider a rental car. The resort has gated on-site parking.

Incomparable Service

A Little Bit of Everything!

This was a great place and had a little bit of everything. Between the pool, the beach, the hot tub, hammocks, etc. there were a number of places to lay out and rest or anything else anyone might want to do. Great location close to lots of west bay restaurants. Host was very communicative as well.

Perfect Location

The location was perfect. While it was quiet and secluded, it’s a quick 10 minute drive to numerous restaurants, stores and bars near 7 mile beach. The property was well maintained with beautiful landscaping and numerous locations to relax and enjoy the view of the ocean. It was a little bit hot and humid but the AC was powerful and we were able to cool off in the pool. The hostess (Vic) was very attentive and checked in with us everyday in person or via text. If we visit Grand Cayman again, I will definitely book a room here again. It would actually be the perfect location for a family trip, since there are 4 cottages.

Like a Private Resort!

We absolutely loved staying at this villa! The grounds were stunningly beautiful. Pool and hot tub were clean and refreshing. We felt like we had our own private resort. The house was a good size, the kitchen was clean and had essentials stocked, in unit laundry was very helpful with daily wet swimsuits. We also benefited from all the snorkeling gear that was provided by the villa. Host and staff were very friendly and responsive with recommendations. We are already planning our return visit!

Beautiful and peaceful place for a relaxing vacation

We had a marvelous week at Sea Orchard Retreat. The property is gorgeous, right on the water and there are kayaks and paddleboards available for use. The cottage was lovely, very comfortable and well appointed, with a fully stocked kitchen. The area is quiet and peaceful. No public transportation, so you do need a car if you want to go into town or to the more popular beaches.

Papaya + Other Cottages

We rented the entire Sea Orchard Retreat property for our wedding for 6 days. the entire property was wonderful. each cottage was well equipped for the entire time we were there. the property itself was well maintained and clean. the property maintenance worker was there daily and readily available for anything we needed. the location is quiet and very nice for a relaxing getaway yet close enough to a grocery store and a really nice restaurant within walking distance. couldn\'t of asked for anything more during our stay.

Perfect Fit

We had a group of 15 adults and had an amazing time at Sea Orchard Retreat! The weather was great and the property was the perfect fit for all. There are enough spaces for those seeking solitude or to hang by the pool with everyone. All the villa\\\'s are similar in layout and very well stocked so we all felt we were in the best one! Book the Stay!

Book the stay! Trust me you will not regret it. Everything was great from the moment I arrived. Be sure to rent a car, due to Uber and Lyft not being available. The property itself is amazing, secluded, and beautiful. Great views of the oceans and several nooks to relax and unwind. If I return I’ll be sure to stay here again. Kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need to make a good meal. Everything was within a 15-20 min drive including the airport. BOOK THE STAY!

This property was more than advertised. I’ve stayed in quite a few condos and timeshares and was spoiled by Sea Orchard Retreat. Beautiful property, amazing amenities and fantastic cottages. The service was impeccable with so many little touches that no one in our diverse group of seventeen had any negatives to say which is saying a lot for our group. Many small and unique aspects and amenities that surprised us all such as fishing poles, snorkel equipment and small things like a terrific spice rack and laundry detergent.

Highly Recommend!

My husband and I had the best time staying here for a spontaneous vacation to the Caymans. You’re only 10-15 minutes away from much of George Town/Seven Mile Strip but it feels very quiet and secluded. The pool is amazing and the amenities within the villa were outstanding. Not to mention, every staff member we spoke with was extremely responsive and helpful. We would recommend this spot for anyone looking for a relaxing Caymans getaway!

A quiet paradise

We had a great vacation at Papaya. The front “yard” was so peaceful and the view spectacular. Fiona was so helpful and lent us snorkel gear to use. The kids loved the pool, we ate at Papagallo twice, we highly recommend the brunch. We went on a boat outing to Stingray City, snorkeled at some great reefs and enjoyed starfish city. We used Silver Thatch and our captain Big Kev and first mate Warren took excellent care of us and it was our family’s favorite day of the trip.

Amazing Wedding Spot

What an amazing experience! Without exception, the guests LOVED our extended wedding weekend at Sea Orchard. So nice to have the property to ourselves occupying all four wonderful cottages, and having a pool and hot tub to ourselves. The wedding was held on the lawn at one end with vows overlooking the ocean. Overhead strings of lights that we had installed for the event made the area beautiful by night as well. Fantastic photos captured the unforgettable experience. The cottages were nicely decorated. Amenities provided everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable. The area was quiet and so relaxing. My only regret is that I didn\\\'t get a chance to use the provided ocean kayaks and paddle boards - we ran out of time!

Great Luxurious Property!!

This luxurious property was absolutely perfect for our group gathering. Everyone had their own bedroom suite, view of the ocean, access to the pool, outdoor relaxation areas and more. The onsite staff was extremely helpful and accommodating with all of our need - both leading up to the trip, and while onsite. They provide ocean toys (paddleboards, snorkel gear, etc.) and we found a Yoga instructor to come teach on the property. Seven mile beach is a short cab ride away, to oceanfront hotels, dining and nightlife. I would highly recommend this paradise to groups who want to escape together, but want their own private lodging accommodations. It\'s amazing!

Fantastic Small Resort

Our group of 6 couples rented all 4 cottages at the Sea Orchard Retreat, and we had a great stay at this intimate beachfront resort. The pool area is wonderful with plenty of lounges and tables/chairs and we spent hours poolside tanning, playing cards, enjoying music, and eating some meals. The cottages are very modern and have a great layout with a king bedroom on one side and a queen or 2 twin bedroom on the other side, providing very good privacy for every couple. Each unit has a full kitchen and washer/dryer, enabling us to eat some meals in and also do some laundry. A nice audio/video setup allows you to watch TV via AppleTV, or play music throughout the cottage due to speakers in all of the rooms. The Wifi was strong, and cellphone service was adequate. This is a very private, quiet resort, allowing you to have a very relaxing experience or to be a bit rowdy without worrying about disturbing the neighbors. We arranged for massages one day that were done in a small cabana down by the beach, and this was an amazing, relaxing experience for the wives. There are also excellent amenities such as kayaks, snorkeling gear, water shoes, plenty of beach towels, etc. You are only a short walk to the Pappagallo Restaurant where we had a couple of fantastic dinners. I would absolutely recommend this resort for groups like ours, and also for smaller groups that may take 1-2 cottages.

Sea Orchard Retreat is a gated oceanfront boutique resort with 4 private well-decorated 2 bedroom, 2 bath villas surrounding an oceanfront pool and spa.  The actual beach here is sandy, however, the shoreline can be pebbly & rocky as one enters the water to snorkel.  Our guests will use kayaks to access the shallow snorkeling reef and coral heads.

Sea Orchard Retreat is less than 10 minutes from the barefoot swimming on Seven Mile Beach as well as all the restaurants, resorts, and watersports offered.

General Grand Cayman Beach Notes

All beaches in Grand Cayman are technically public since the Crown owns up to the high water mark.

The shoreline quality behind your property may vary slightly from the images on our website due to shifting tides and weather patterns. The next-door beach is also always available for your use.

Ocean Debris & Sargassum Seaweed

Beaches in Grand Cayman may also experience floating ocean debris and sargassum weed seasonally.

Sargassum is a generally harmless floating seaweed that has increased in frequency over the years during the summer. Our owners do make efforts to remove heavy sargassum and will have the beach raked prior to your arrival. 

Should sargassum weed be extremely heavy behind your property, we will reach out to the owner for alternative solutions which may include a partial refund or relocation.

Lower Occupancy Discount

  • For 2 or fewer guests occupying the villa, the owner lowers the rate by $50/night. The discount will be reflected during the booking process automatically. Festive dates blacked-out.

Booking Rules

  • 3 nights minimum stay required.
  • 5 nights minimum and full occupancy required over Thanksgiving.
  • 7 nights minimum and full occupancy required over Christmas and New Year's week.
  • Inquire for last-minute discounts
  • No check-ins over Christmas Day, Boxing Day (Dec 26), & Easter Sunday.
  • Shorter stays may be available but subject to a higher cleaning fee. Please inquire before booking.
  • Must be 21 years or older to book and must occupy the cottage during the entire rental period.
  • Discounted rates available for extended stays (7+ days).
  • Small weddings encouraged! Supplemental refundable wedding deposit required.

Villa Cleaning & Sanitation

All villas are cleaned and sanitized prior to each guest's arrival. We also ask our owners to provide a starter supply of extra cleaning products.

Additional housekeeping services can be purchased after booking in 3-hour time blocks. Scheduling may be coordinated with your property manager upon arrival.

Getting Around

A rental car is highly recommended. Taxi cabs are unreliable and expensive outside of town and Seven Mile Beach. Plus, there is no Uber or Lyft on the island.  

For rental cars, we recommend Avis, Marshalls, or Hertz.
